Good
morning to Ms. Zadza, Ms. Ambika and my fellow friends, my name is Phua Shu Xin.
Now, I’m going to discuss about the last part of this presentation, SOLUTION.
Before I start my 1st chart, I would like to tell you, there is
without a perfect solution on this issue, it’s just depends on what condition
you are.
Let
me start by the 1st question, what should a family do if the elderly
refuses to be sent to Old Folks’ Home? There are 40% of the respondents
choosing don’t send him/her there. There are only a minimal of people will
explain the reason why they need to go and sent him/her there anyway. According
to the chart, we can found that our society is full filled with moral value.
People are respecting and care for the elderly. They will follow the choices
and decisions of elderly as much as possible.
Let’s
move on to next slide, what should be the conditions that justifies sending the
elderly to Old Folks’ Home? The percentage of the respondents on this section
is almost balance, which are 29% of them choosing physical illness and
abandoned by their children. Minority of the respondents are choosing a
childless elderly.
Next,
what should government do to help the elderly? There are over half of the
people are suggested giving pension to help the elderly. Only 24% of them would
like to provide jobs to the elderly and 12% of them hope that the number of Old
Folks’ Home will be increases. Let’s look at this in more detail, teenager
nowadays think that the main problem that facing by the elderly is financial
problem. They believe that money could solve problems. They even don’t realize
that the most importance things to the elderly are caring and love.
Furthermore, people do not trust on the Old Folks’ home. They don’t think Old
Folks’ home can help them.
Now
I would like to draw your attention to next question, what should the family do
before sending the elderly to Old Folks’ Home? There are only 3% of the
respondents will not do anything and 10% of them will seek a counselor. Most of
them will consider all possible options.
Finally,
here’s come to our main title, should the elderly be sent to the Old Folks’
Home? Obviously we can see that all of the respondents are not supporting to
send the elderly to Old Folk’s Home. Why they do so? It is because they feel
that they have the responsibility to take care of the elderly. Besides that,
they also think negatively to the Old Folks’ Home. As a result, we can found
that teenagers always think in a short term. Let me explain it. Who is not
willing to take care of their parents if they able to? So, who needs Old Folks’
Home? Taking care of the elderly is not just the matter of money. They also
need your time and your love. How can a teenager ensure that? Can you ensure
your future?
In
brief, we can found that majority of NilaiUniversity College students are
responsible towards their elderly. It is a good phenomenon show that they will
take care of their elderly in the future. Lastly, this is shown in all parts of
the questionnaire as respondents’ answers are neutral and predictable.
